Every episode of Elsewhere features one historic hotel. Not as a backdrop. Not as a sponsor. As a character — with its own story, its own memory, its own claim on the history of the city it inhabits.

The great hotels of the world are repositories of human experience. Leaders made decisions in their rooms. Artists found their work in their light. Lovers met in their lobbies. History moved through their corridors.

Most hotels know this about themselves. Almost none have ever had someone tell that story properly.

"We select one hotel per city. Not the most famous. The one with the most to say."

The selection process is simple: we invite historic hotels in each city to share their story. What happened here. Who came. What changed. We read everything. We choose the property whose history is most alive — most capable of becoming part of an episode that will be watched by tens of thousands of people who care deeply about exactly this kind of thing.

In exchange: we stay. We film. We dedicate a segment of the episode to the hotel's story, produced with the same care and craft as every other element of Elsewhere.

This is not advertising. It is something more durable — the kind of storytelling people remember and share and return to.

How It Works
1
You Tell Us Your Story
Share what happened in your hotel. The figures who stayed. The events that unfolded. The history embedded in your walls. There is no template — we want the story as you know it.
2
We Choose
One hotel per city is selected based entirely on the strength and interest of the story. We are looking for history that is alive — not preserved behind glass, but present in the building, the atmosphere, the people who work there.
3
We Arrive
Christopher Theodore and the Elsewhere crew stay at the property for the duration of filming. Five to seven nights. We become guests, not journalists — experiencing the hotel as it is meant to be experienced.
4
We Tell Your Story
The "It Happened Here" segment — five to eight minutes within the episode — tells the history of the property with the same care and craft as every other element of Elsewhere. Not a commercial. A story. The kind people share.
Does Your Hotel Have a Story Worth Telling?

We are currently selecting properties for our first season, beginning March 2026 in Valencia, Barcelona, Lisbon, and Seville. If your hotel has history worth telling, we want to hear it.
